State Legislative Session Gets Underway, Hearings Scheduled on Bills of Interest

On Wednesday, the House and Senate reconvened and took up bills left over from last session. The House didn’t dispense with all the 2009 bills this week, so will convene to finish up next Wednesday. Meanwhile, hearings on 2010 bills are already underway, and several home care priority bills will be heard in the next few weeks:

HB 1170, relative to licensure of home health care providers – 1/14 @ 10:00

HB 1226, relative to caregiver support services for the elderly – 1/14 @ 11:00

HB 1228, relative to criminal record checks by health facilities – 1/28 @ 2:00

HB 1355, relative to certain Medicaid appropriations – 1/20 @ 1:30

HB 1437, requiring DHHS to provide a report on Katie Beckett, the Medicaid program for home care for children with severe disabilities – 1/14 @ 2:00

The Association supports all these bills, except for HB 1437 on which we have no position at present.

To review the text for any of these bills, just go to the Quick Bill Status Search page of the General Court website and enter the bill number (e.g., hb1170) in the appropriate block. If you need further assistance, just contact the Association.
